For Homeowners
ENERGUIDE HOME EVALUATIONS
Pre-Retrofit
View Details
Complete this energy audit prior to starting your home improvement upgrades. This energy audit is a thorough assessment of your home, identifying where the heat is escaping and the energy is being consumed. You’ll receive a detailed report on your home’s energy performance, a prioritized list of suggested upgrades with details on available funding, and a rating of how much energy your home consumes. In addition, you’ll receive guidance from a building science expert throughout your retrofit journey.

Post-Retrofit
View Details
This evaluation assesses the effectiveness of the changes made once all home improvement upgrades are completed. An additional air leakage test will be conducted, and the Energy Advisor will verify that the work listed on the upgrade invoices matches what the contractor has completed. Shortly after the evaluation, you’ll receive updated reports detailing the energy efficiency of your newly improved home, along with guidance on how to access all the available funding options. This evaluation is necessary to receive the Canada Greener Homes Loan and to access the provincial Home Energy Improvement Bonus.

A similar assessment as the ‘Pre-Retrofit’; however, the air leakage locations aren’t identified, and recommendations on how to improve the home aren’t provided. This evaluation is simply conducted to rate the energy performance of your house and its installed equipment under standard operating conditions.

ADDITIONAL
The following services require a ‘Pre-retrofit EnerGuide Home Evaluation’ performed by Green Connect.
CSA F280-12
Heat Load Calculation
View Details
This report contains your home’s design heating load, which is the amount of heat needed to maintain an indoor temperature of 22°C at the winter design temperature. It also contains the design cooling load, which is the amount of heat that must be removed to maintain an indoor temperature of 24°C at the summer design temperature. These values are presented in BTU/hr and will assist you and the contractor in accurately selecting the appropriate size of heat pump for the house.

Duct Air Flow
Testing
View Details
For homeowners who have an oil or natural gas furnace and are planning to switch over to a ducted heat pump. A special device called the ‘Digital TrueFlow™ Grid’ will be temporarily installed and static pressure readings will be taken. You’ll receive useful information about how much air flow the ducts can handle before becoming noisy. This information can be passed on to the contractor to help them size the heat pump correctly.
($100 + GST)
Electrical Service
Capacity Assessment
View Details
Not all homes with a 100-amp service need an electrical service upgrade to have a heat pump installed. This assessment can be done using empirical data, which we’ll help you collect, or by identifying the existing major electrical loads. You’ll be provided with a report outlining the service capacity of the house, the peak load, the method for determining the peak load, and the number of unused breaker slots.

INDEPENDENT
The following services don’t require an ‘EnerGuide Home Evaluation’.
CSA F280-12
Heat Load Calculation
View Details
Following an in-person assessment of your home, compliant software will be used to calculate the whole-house heating and cooling loads. This scientifically developed standard is based on proven building science principles, ensuring precise and reliable results. You’ll receive a report that can be shared with your contractor to ensure your heat pump will be perfectly sized for optimal comfort and efficiency.

Blower Door
Testing
View Details
Gain access to blower door testing equipment, which can be operational for up to one hour. The building science specialist will use a thermal imaging camera to aid with identifying air leakage locations and provide expert guidance on effective air sealing strategies. Real-time air sealing can be performed while the home is depressurized, giving you immediate feedback on results.

STEP CODE COMPLIANCE CHECKLISTS
Pre-construction
View Details
A requirement for the building permit. It ensures that the planned construction of the Part 9 building complies with energy efficiency and carbon standards. This service may also be necessary for homes undergoing renovations to the existing structure in order to obtain permits. Deliverables include energy modelling, upgrade analysis, and a pre-construction compliance checklist.
Mid-Construction
View Details
An opportunity to evaluate the airtightness of a building during the construction process. By testing at this stage, any issues can be identified early, allowing for adjustments to improve airtightness before the project is completed, when fixes are often more expensive. Deliverables include a blower door test and a mid-construction compliance checklist.
As-Built
View Details
A requirement for the occupancy permit. Verifies that the constructed building meets the performance standards recorded at the pre-construction stage. Deliverables include a final blower door test, EnerGuide file submission, and an EnerGuide Label.

For HVAC contractors to comply with the FortisBC Dual Fuel Heating System Rebate requirement for a heat load calculation. This service is provided as if Green Connect were a subcontractor, meaning we’ll operate on behalf of your company instead of as an Energy Advisor. We’ll be collecting the required data, performing a blower door test, completing the heat load calculation, and providing the CSA F280 compliant report directly to you, rather than to the homeowner.
